Solid, four-sided brass square bar and brass square rod with equal flat faces — measured across flats and supplied in straight lengths or cut to length for keys, shafts, brackets, frames, grilles and decorative work.
Brass square bar is a solid, straight metal bar with a square cross-section — four equal flat faces meeting at right angles. It is produced by extrusion or drawing and is valued for its symmetry, flat mounting faces and clean machinability. In trade language it is also called brass square rod, square brass bar, brass square stock or solid brass square bar.
A square section is measured across flats (the distance between two opposite flat faces), which distinguishes it from round bar (measured by diameter), flat bar (measured width × thickness) and hex bar (six-sided across flats). Brass square bar machines, mills, turns, drills, files and polishes reliably, with the warm golden finish that makes brass equally suitable for working parts and visible metalwork. Short cut lengths are ordered as brass square block.
Brass square bar combines a rigid, symmetrical section with easy machining and a classic brass finish for both functional and decorative parts.
Brass square stock mills, turns and drills cleanly into precise square parts.
Four equal faces seat and mount squarely without rolling or twisting.
Square brass bar resists rust and moisture indoors and outdoors.
Sharp, even edges polish beautifully for trim, grilles and metalwork.
Solid square section stays straight for rails, frames and alignments.
The copper-based surface naturally limits microbial build-up on touch parts.
Square brass stock serves for connectors, terminals and grounding parts.
Brass square rod is fully recyclable without losing its properties.
Brass square bar is specified by its across-flats dimension and supplied in straight lengths, cut to length on request.
| Product | Dimension | Lengths | Custom Cutting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brass Square Bar / Brass Square Rod | Across flats, in a range of metric and inch sizes | 1 ft, 3 ft, 6 ft, 12 ft straight lengths | Yes — cut to your length |
Brass square bar is normally supplied with crisp square (sharp) corners for a precise, traditional look; lightly rounded or radius-corner square stock can be specified where smoother handling is preferred.
Soft brass square rod forms and bends most easily, half-hard is the balanced default for general fabrication, and hard square bar gives the stiffest, straightest result for rails, keys and load-bearing parts.
Standard smooth mill finish, uniform and ready for machining.
Mirror-bright polished square brass bar for visible decorative parts.
Directional brushed finish that hides fingerprints and looks refined.
Round, flat and hex brass bar are available separately. For short, cut pieces and cubes rather than long bars, see the Brass Square Block range; this page covers the long brass square bar form.
The equal flat faces of brass square stock make it easy to hold, align and machine into precise square components.
Brass square rod mills and turns cleanly, drills accurate holes, cuts keyways and slots, and files or sands to a crisp edge. Its flat faces clamp securely in a vice or fixture for repeatable CNC work. In softer tempers it bends into brackets and frames, and it solders and brazes into neat, strong joints before a final polish.
Key stock and drive bars, square shafts and spindles, brackets and frames, grilles and balusters, hinge components, jigs and fixtures, decorative inlay and ornamental metalwork all begin as brass square bar.
Brass square bar is used wherever a symmetrical, rigid square section with a clean finish is required.
Square key stock, drive bars and torque fittings machined from brass square rod.
Square shafts, stems, spindles and valve keys turned or milled from square stock.
L-brackets, structural frames, braces and reinforcing sections in square brass bar.
Balusters, grille bars, gates and railings using straight, decorative square sections.
Crisp edge banding, square inlay strips and border detail in polished square bar.
Hinge pins and leaves, hasps, catches and door hardware cut from square stock.
Alignment bars, locators, stops and fixture components that seat on flat faces.
Custom CNC parts, spacers, couplings and fittings milled from brass square bar.
Furniture bands, foot rails, ornamental strips and craft metalwork in brass finish.
Brass square bar follows a controlled process to deliver a straight, true square section.
Copper and zinc are melted and blended to the target brass composition.
The brass is cast into solid billets ready for hot forming.
Billets are extruded through square dies to form the four-sided profile.
The square rod is drawn to final across-flats size and a smooth surface.
Each brass square bar is straightened, checked and cut to length.
Across-flats dimension, corner condition, straightness and surface are monitored throughout production, and each finished brass square bar receives a final check of size, length, edge and finish before cutting and packaging, so every length of square brass stock leaves in consistent, true condition.
Beyond raw brass square bar, secondary processing delivers pieces ready for assembly.
Brass square bar cut to your exact length as ready-to-use pieces.
CNC milling and turning of square brass stock to drawing.
Keyways, slots, holes and flats machined into brass square rod.
Square bar bent into brackets, frames, grilles and ornamental shapes.
Buffing, polishing and satin finishing of the four brass faces.
Bundled, wrapped or crated square bar with clear labeling.
Every length of brass square bar is backed by consistent process controls from incoming stock to final shipment. Square brass bar is drawn from reputable mills and kept fully traceable, so the square stock you receive performs repeatably in machining and fabrication.
Brass square bar can be supplied with certificates of compliance and material test reports for composition and properties, supporting traceability and standard conformance for your quality records.
Processing: in-stock standard brass square bar orders are dispatched within 1–5 business days. Custom-cut or made-to-order square stock needs extra processing time that increases with fabrication difficulty.
Transit: after the order ships, delivery normally takes 7–15 days.
Custom brass square bar is cut or processed to your exact dimensions. Once cutting or fabrication has started, a custom order cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged — please confirm across-flats size, corner type, temper and length before ordering.
You may return items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
